This is a little 5" x 7" oil on Canson postcard, originally painted for a fundraiser but there were no takers.
Based upon a winter snowshoe-backpacking trip above Yosemite Valley in the winter of 2023, this was the morning view from above Dewey Point. Later in the morning a few snowshoe hikers walked out onto the Dewey Point overlook, taking it all in. I just had to include them as little flecks of paint to show the scale of the place.
The postcard is archival Canson watercolor paper, gessoed 3 times before being painted on. The painting is also varnished.
